Celebrating Independent Gainesville

Tree Gators and other things….

  • Are LOCAL Foods Are Worth the Cost? A CEO of a big-box organic grocery store weighs in—what do you think about LOCAL?

    Gator Tree

  • Have seen/heard about the Rock Paper Scissors Tournaments that are going on the month of September? Some lovely people are organizing them as a fundraiser for Yopp! and the Rosa B Williams Recreation Centerthat’s just re-opened downtown. There are 3 tournaments in total; the first already happened at The Laboratory. There were 12 competitors, and they were able to raise $60 and  the group gave away almost $200 in prizes from local companies.
Their goal is to—at least!—match the amount of prizes donated to the amount of funds raised with the next tournament.
The next tournament will be at the Bull, Wednesday, September 19th starting at 7:30. See you there?
  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Gainesville Compost! Check ‘em out if you haven’t already! And congratulations to the indie teamwork by Tempo Bistro To Go with Gainesville Compost into making something great even better!
  • We had a great time at the 11th Annual Latino Festival. Plan on going next year if you missed it!
  • “With homeowner mobility at an all-time low, more people are putting down roots and getting to know their neighbors.
  • Clean yourself up, indie Gainesville…with Moksa Organics! Familiarize yourself with the Moksa Story and the local non-profits they support….and then help them, if you can raise money for expansion. Operation Off the Grid!
