Happy 3rd of July!
- If you want to see a display of fireworks without leaving town, tonight is your night for Fanfares & Fireworks. The fireworks are said to start around 9:40 pm. We say go earlier and enjoy the show.
Yes, that’s right. July 3rd = fireworks in indieGainesville.
We do it on the 3rd here because we’re more patriotic than the rest of the nation. Or we do it so you can enjoy yourself on the 4th and set off your own fireworks after a cookout or swimming or, let’s be honest, stay inside, seeking refuge from the oppressive heat. Or so we don’t compete with the City of Alachua’s firework show on the 4th. We do it on the 3rd because we’re so indie . . .
Yeah. We asked around, and we received a of couple conflicting answers about the fireworks on the 3rd. Surely someone will clarify this for us, but in the meantime–
It’s fireworks, relax and enjoy. Just don’t try this at home:
Moving right along . . . - Picnic conversation: Discuss the “100 great things about America” as named this year. What would you add? What would you get rid of? (. . . um, Pop Tarts . . . ?)
- What to do with an abandoned Wal-Mart? (It does happen.) Here’s an amazing idea (h/t to LC.)
- Citizens Co-op will be open on July 4th, from 9-2. Members get an additional discount of 4% on top of the already 5% discount members get. Do your math: that’s a 9% discount at the Co-op tomorrow!
Some other local businesses will be open tomorrow too, should you have a desire to browse . . . - Do you live in a city?
