Weekend Respite
Whew!
What a busy weekend we had.
We apologize, but we really must take a rest today from our usual posting.
There ARE, of course a few things to note (aside from we suck at resting):

Hi friends of Vine. Just wanted to send out a quick reminder that we’ll be open tomorrow from 7 AM – 12 PM. Our regular hours will be Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri from 7 – 12. At this point we’re only able to accept cash or checks. Our website has a…lso been established at www.vinegainesville.com. Our hope is to take pre-orders from there for pick up at the Downtown market, the Haile market and at Vine. The site is in its beginning stages, but we’re doing our best to figure out how to best suit it to all of our needs. Thank you so much for your support.
Of course, we wouldn’t post this if we didn’t think they rock. . .

- The Gainesville Sun believes that “Main Street comes alive as eateries, art galleries thrive.” Let us know what you think.
- And of course–stay warm tonight and enjoy what’s most likely our last blast of cool weather!
The Archer-Braid Trail is being constructed from the city of Archer through UF, going through both beautiful scenic areas (Lake Kanapaha) and student housing areas (SW 24th/20th corridor). SW Gainesville is current lacking in safe methods for cycling, both for recreation and for commuters to the university. Not only are there no bike lanes, many times there aren’t even any shoulders or sidewalks. This trail has so many positive impacts for our community and beyond. The ABT will link up to the Hawthorne trail (which will eventually link up with trails to the Atlantic coast) on the east and eventually the Nature Coast trail and beyond on the west. This is a fantastic tourism attraction for our area.
Unfortunately, many residents in Haile Plantation are proclaiming “not in my backyard” and will be at Tuesday’s commission meeting, when the ABT will be discussed. We need those that support the ABT to be in attendance.
Alternative, emissions-free transportation route to the university and Shands. Free exercise opportunity in nature for everyone, including lower income areas. Potential benefits to local business along the trail (especially in the future when all trails link and north Florida becomes a bike touring destination). This is the indie spirit.
